The New South Wales Fair Trading Minister, Reba Meagher, has warned consumers to be aware of Internet travel swindles. During 2003, some 1,000 web sites worldwide were listed as not providing correct services to consumers. Meagher said that consumers should only use the web sites of licensed travel agents to book trips. She said this offers a guarantee of performance, and also means the bookings will be covered by the Travel Compensation Fund.
